Planned Giving: how you can
support the
New Westminster Symphony Society
Have you considered a gift
to the New Westminster Symphony Society in your Will? This is
a wonderful opportunity to continue your generous support to
the NWSS so that our music will continue long into the 21st century.
Our orchestra began in 1915 and remains strong today due to support
from patrons like you.
What is a planned
gift?
A "planned gift"
can be as simple as a gift which is promised today but is given
at a later date. Every gift, no matter the size, will make a
difference. A gift to the New Westminster Symphony Society in
your Will shows that you have ensured the continuation of great
classical music in the Lower Mainland for future generations.
A planned gift to the New
Westminster Symphony Society comes to the NWSS upon your passing,
or the passing of your surviving beneficiary, through a special
clause in your Will. A planned gift, as opposed to a gift given
now, has the advantage of not affecting your current financial
resources.
You may specify that your
gift is to be either unrestricted -- to be used by the New Westminster
Symphony Society wherever the need is greatest, or restricted
-- where your gift is for a specific purpose. We encourage you
to consult a representative of the New Westminster Symphony Society
and your own legal advisor before finalizing a gift to the NWSS,
to ensure that your intended gift will fulfill your wishes and
meet the needs of the NWSS.
How can I arrange a planned
gift?
Leaving a planned gift can
be as simple as adding a clause in your Will or designating the
New Westminster Symphony Society as a beneficiary in your Life
Insurance policy. Choosing the best option for you may require
discussing your plans with your lawyer, financial advisor or
insurance agent.
If you wish to give a gift
without restriction to the New Westminster Symphony Society,
please consider this wording for your Will:
|
"I give to the New Westminster
Symphony Society the sum of $________, or _______ percent of
my estate (or the residue) to be used for purposes approved by
the Board of Directors of the New Westminster Symphony Society". |
If you wish to specify how
your gift is to be used, please consider this wording for your
Will:
|
"I give to the New Westminster
Symphony Society the sum of $________, or _______ percent of
my estate (or the residue) to be used for the following purpose
(s):" (describe your purpose) |
The benefits of your gift
Your gift will be used to
maintain the New Westminster Symphony Orchestras annual
program of community classical music concerts. If your gift is
designated to promote a particular aspect of the NWSS and the
Orchestra, your wishes will be met.
You may wish to speak with
the Treasurer of the New Westminster Symphony Society who, under
the direction of the NWSS Board of Directors, will ensure that
your gift makes the greatest impact on the future of classical
music in the Lower Mainland. If you are leaving a gift in your
Will or thinking about leaving a gift, the NWSS Board of Directors
would like to know. Please contact us at info@nwso.ca
Thank you for considering our request for your support.
Best musical wishes from,
